UNO Apartments: Illuminating Voices Within at Green Square

Clear Control was engaged to provide the lighting supply and control for this innovative artistic project, creating a dynamic low-res screen effect that serves as a canvas for Robyn Backen's Voices Within installation at UNO Apartments in Green Square, Sydney. The project features 1,335 LED pixels, each operating as an individual point on an extended and abstracted screen, providing a unique visual experience.

Passing through the installation, viewers encounter film references, cultural expressions, and I Ching hexagrams that weave together geospatial histories and poetic reflections. These visuals are carefully displayed across the LED screen, blending artistic storytelling with advanced lighting control systems. The dynamic screen effect, controlled through LEDCTRL software, allows for precise programming and animation, bringing Robyn Backen's vision to life.

The artwork is integrated into the façade of the UNO Apartments, which were designed by SJB Architects as part of the Green Square urban renewal. The collaboration between Bridgehill Group and Cultural Capital highlights the area's focus on sustainability, creativity, and community engagement. The Voices Within installation has become a distinctive feature of Green Square, offering a permanent lighting display that transforms the urban landscape each evening, creating a memorable and immersive experience for all who encounter it.
