Marvel Stadium
Clear Control was tasked with supplying and installing LED neon lighting for the Marvel Stadium Sky Sign in Melbourne. Previously known as Etihad Stadium, the venue was rebranded following Disney's eight-year partnership with Melbourne Stadiums Limited, with the name change and new illumination debuting on September 1, 2018.
The project required a design that could withstand specific wind loading requirements, leading to the use of perforated backing and closely spaced LED neon lines. This design allowed for the creation of open-channel letter signage that closely matched Marvel’s brand identity while maintaining structural integrity under challenging conditions.
The finished sign featured over 1,500 meters of LED neon across 450 components, supported by 88 low-voltage transformers. To meet the project's tight deadlines and reduce on-site installation time, each LED component was cut to length, labelled, and equipped with an IP65 plug-and-play solution. This approach ensured a quick and efficient setup, aligning with the project's challenging timeline and creating a vibrant, energy-efficient lighting solution that enhances the stadium's visibility and branding.
Today, the Marvel Stadium Sky Sign stands as a prominent feature of Melbourne's skyline, celebrating the partnership between Disney and Melbourne Stadiums Limited. It serves as a dynamic beacon during events, contributing to the stadium's role as a leading sports and entertainment hub in Australia.
